Celebrating Early Years Educator Successes this National Apprenticeship Week

The Skills Network is championing its Early Years Educator Skills Bootcamp this National Apprenticeship Week as it showcases the success stories of candidates who have fast-tracked to an apprenticeship.

This government-funded Early Years training course provides candidates with the foundation knowledge for a fulfilling career in childhood education. Upon successful completion, the candidate is well-positioned to either progress onto an accelerated apprenticeship with one of our dedicated Early Years apprenticeship partners, or work in an unqualified position within a local nursery, preschool, or reception class setting.

Wendy Dodson, Partnerships Director Skills Bootcamps at The Skills Network, explained:

“Our Early Years Educator Skills Bootcamps offer a fantastic pathway for individuals eager to start a rewarding career in early childhood education. With government funding fully covering the cost, participants can gain valuable skills in a intensive four or six-week online course, with a tutor, designed to fit into school-friendly hours. This flexible, supportive course opens the door to apprenticeship opportunities and a fulfilling career in shaping young minds."

Victoria Steed, an Early Years Educator Skills Bootcamp graduate, undertook the training course as she had found it difficult to successfully find a job in Early Years. Updating us on her job search following the completion of the Skills Bootcamp, Victoria said:

“I have a job to do the Level 3 apprenticeship. I have been allowed to the apprenticeship because of this course, plus its term time only during school hours.

“I had a play interview first, and they asked me to stay an extra hour and half so I could only assume it was because they liked me. The company then offered me the position the very next day. Thank you for helping me get to where I am today."

Another learner who is celebrating a positive outcome is Lia Norman. Speaking on her experience of doing the Early Years Educator Skills Bootcamp, learner, Lia, commented:

“I really enjoyed the content of the course, the flexibility, and our wonderful course leader Katie. I'm implementing everything I learned on the course in my current role as an apprentice.
