Mental Health Level 1 Course
Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness
To be eligible for funding you must be aged 19 or over, have been living in the European Union for the last 3 years and have not previously completed the course you are wanting to enrol on.
If you do not complete the course, you may be liable to a £100 resource and registration fee.

This qualification aims to increase your employees’ knowledge and understanding of mental health. The course also aims to develop new and existing skills to help them progress further in their careers.
Upon completion of this level 1 mental health course, your employees could progress on to one of our other courses, such as the Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems.
This course is ideal for employees who are interested in mental health, either for their personal life, or professional development.
This course is split into manageable sections. These are:
Section 1: What is meant by mental health
In this section, your employees will learn what is meant by the terms ‘mental health’ and ‘mental ill health’, explore the causes of mental health problems and different examples of mental health problems, and learn about common sources of information on mental health issues.
Section 2: The social and personal effects of mental ill health
Your employees will learn about the prevalence of mental health problems in the UK, the effects that experiencing a mental health problem can have on individuals, how mental health is reported in the media and the negative effects this can have on an individual and society, and how stereotyping can affect individuals with mental health problems.
Section 3: The responses to mental health issues
In this section, your employees will cover the rights of people experiencing mental ill health, the possible responses that can be made to support individuals with mental health problems, the factors which can have an impact on whether a response will work, where to refer people for further guidance about mental health issues, and ways to promote positive mental health.
Section 4: Cultural diversity in relation to mental health issues
Your employees will learn about possible causes of mental distress in different cultural groups, barriers that may exist for different cultural groups accessing services, ways of overcoming barriers to accessing services, and factors that can help promote positive mental health amongst different cultural groups.
