This interactive and engaging online course features bespoke video content filmed on site in a nursery to make sure your staff relate the materials to their workplace environment.
CACHE Essentials is split into three zones which cover the following sections:
Zone 1: Child development in early years
Your employees will develop their understanding of the holistic stages of development of children and young people from birth to 19 years, including identifying the difference between the sequence of development and rate of development. They will also look at how to monitor children and young people’s development using different methods and will increase your employees’ knowledge of factors affecting development. Finally, your employees will increase their knowledge of the importance of play opportunities for children and young people. They will also explore the national curriculum and discover how to plan for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Zone 2: Engaging with the requirements of statutory frameworks in relation to safeguarding and welfare
This zone will ensure your employees are fully aware of the following legislation:
This zone will also expand upon your employees’ knowledge of the definitions of ‘safeguarding’ and ‘welfare’. Your staff will discover how to identify signs and symptoms of common childhood illnesses and what actions to take when children or young people are ill or injured. This zone also highlights the potential signs and indicators of abuse and what actions to take in response to evidence or concerns that a child or young person is at risk of abuse.
Zone 3: Creating a positive environment
This zone covers working with parents and carers, including how to appropriately meet and greet children and parents/carers and the importance of sharing concerns with parents. Your employees will also discover what ‘transition’ is in relation to children, and the importance of liaising with parents/carers and others to ensure the child is supported prior to, during and following transition. Finally, your employees will develop their knowledge of how to role model exemplary behaviour and understand the importance of being ‘child-centred’.
