Level 3 AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping

This qualification aims to enhance your employees’ skills and prepare them for the next step in their careers. By completing this accounting training online, they’ll improve their understanding of bookkeeping at an advanced level, including the principles of advanced double entry bookkeeping, recording depreciation calculations and period end adjustments and producing and extending the trial balance. They will also look in-depth at final accounts preparation and indirect tax.

Unit 1: Advanced bookkeeping

In this unit, your employees will learn about the principles of advanced double entry bookkeeping, including classifying general ledger accounts, recording and making adjustments to accounts, and ethical principles. They will also learn about the procedures to take for the acquisition and disposal of non-current assets, preparing and recording depreciation calculations, recording period end adjustments and how to produce and extend the trial balance.

Unit 2: Final accounts preparation

Within this unit, your employees will learn about financial accounts preparation. They will begin by distinguishing between the financial recording and reporting requirements of different types of organisation, then move on to look at the need for final accounts and the accounting and ethical principles underlying their preparation. They will also learn how to prepare accounting records from incomplete information, produce accounts for sole traders and partnerships and to recognise the key differences between preparing accounts for a limited company and a sole trader.

Unit 3: Indirect tax

This unit will provide your employees with an understanding of VAT legislation requirements and how to apply them, how to complete VAT returns and submit them in a timely manner, how to understand the implications for the business of errors, omissions and late filing and payment. They will finally learn how to report VAT related information within the organisation.
