Upon completion of their substance misuse awareness level 1 course, your learners will receive a Level 1 Award in Awareness of Substance Misuse.
Section 1: Substances that are commonly misused
In this section, your learners will learn about substances that are often misused, why people might misuse substances, factors that influence an individual’s attitude towards the use of substances, the risks involved with the misuse of substances, and signs and symptoms that may indicate the use of substances.
Section 2: The personal and social effects of substance misuse
Within this section, your learners will cover the impact of substance misuse on individuals, communities and society, well-being and health issues associated with substance misuse, and local and national services and organisations that offer information, advice and guidance on substance misuse.
Section 3: The perceptions of and responses to substance misuse
In this section, your learners will learn about the stereotypes associated with substance misuse, how these stereotypes can be misleading or discriminatory, how the media portrays substance misuse, and the extent and types of substance use and misuse in the UK.
Section 4: Ways to promote healthy choices and build resilience
This section explores the definition of resilience, why some individuals are more likely to misuse substances, and factors that may help to prevent individuals from misusing a substance. Your learners will also learn about ways to build resilience and protect individuals from the risks of substance misuse and possible barriers to making healthy choices.
