Each year, there are an estimated 22,000 workplace fires in the UK, or 423 a week.
The most common causes of workplace fires are faulty electrical appliances and leads. Fire safety training can help reduce risk, ensure a fire action plan is in place and ultimately prioritise the safety of all individuals in a workplace setting.

This fire safety online course is suitable for learners who work within areas which require fire safety knowledge or are employed and are required to complete it.
About the course
Learners will practice the importance of fire safety principles in the workplace such as understanding the ‘fire triangle’. Discover the hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace and how to control fire with various fire extinguisher types. Understand the overall principles and practices of fire safety management such as how to conduct a fire safety risk assessment and understand the role of the nominated fire warden.

Upon your completion of online fire safety training and practice assessment, The Skills Network will take care of the registration process for your external MCQ exam with BIIAB.
You will shortly be contacted by an Exams Officer from The Skills Network and they will book your external examination.
Upon completion of your external examination, you will receive a Level 2 Fire Safety certificate.

Section 1: Understand the hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace
Within this section, learners will look into hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace, the fire triangle, identifying hazards and how fire and smoke can spread.
Section 2: Understand how fire risk is controlled in the workplace
Within this section, learners will identify methods of controlling fire hazards, means of escape, how to detect fire and how to raise the alarm, and fire action plans. Learners will also learn about how fires are extinguished, how to use a fire extinguisher and the different types of fire fighting and detecting systems.
Section 3: Understand the principles and practice of fire safety management at work
Within this section, learners will develop their understanding of fire safety duties in the workplace, the people responsible for fire safety, inspections in the workplace and how to conduct these inspections.
Section 4: Understand the role of the nominated fire warden.
Within this section, learners will look at the roles of fire wardens, how fire wardens should react during an emergency, designated areas for fire wardens and fire safety briefings.
