As the leaves begin to fall and the season changes, it’s the perfect time for a fresh start, especially if you’re living in York or North Yorkshire and thinking about your next career move.

Whether you’re returning to work, exploring a new direction, or simply ready to invest in yourself, this autumn could be your turning point. The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, in partnership with The Skills Network, is offering a fully funded course (free for eligible learners) designed to help you build confidence, gain new skills, and open doors into rewarding careers in Early Years or Health and Social Care.

Build Confidence Through Online Learning, At Your Pace

Autumn often marks a return to routine, making it a great time to refocus on personal development. If you’ve been nervous about online learning or unsure where to start with a career change, the Open Doors: Confidence and Career Discovery Course is a gentle, supportive introduction.

You don’t need previous experience or formal qualifications. The course is designed specifically for adults who want to build confidence with digital tools, refresh their skills, and explore opportunities in caring, people-focused professions.

What to Expect

  • A face-to-face welcome session at a local venue
  • One hour weekly online sessions led by a tutor
  • Around four hours of flexible self-study per week
  • Confidence-building activities
  • Essential digital skills
  • Real-world insights into roles in Early Years and Health and Social Care
  • Support to progress into further training or a career
