The Skills Network at NAMSS 2026: Putting Tutorials at the Centre of Further Education

24th December 2025

NAMSS first 1-day event focusing on Tutorials within an Further Education setting

On Tuesday 20 January 2026, The Skills Network Is proud to attend and sponsor the NAMSS (National Association for Managers of Student Services) Tutorial Conference at the Novotel, Birmingham; the first one-day NAMSS event dedicated entirely to Tutorial Programmes within an FE setting.

With tutorial provision under increasing scrutiny and pressure, the timing of this event could not have been more relevant. Managers and operational staff responsible for planning, delivering and measuring the impact of tutorials will come together to share challenges, ideas and practical approaches; all grounded in the realities of FE delivery.

A shared challenge across Further Education

“While qualifications are important, it is all the other skills that will enable a young person to get a job and help them get on in life. With employers, Ofsted, and the government expecting an individualised approach and an expanding range of tutorial support, it is a challenge for every education and training setting to meet these demands working within the financial constraints faced by the sector. The Skills Network is proud to be sponsors of this event, focusing on such a vital element of the learner journey at such a critical time.” Mark Dawe, CEO, The Skills Network.

Workshop spotlight: supercharging tutorials in the new Ofsted landscape

As part of the conference programme, Mark Dawe, CEO and Craig Tupling, Executive Director – Delivery & Quality at The Skills Network, will be hosting a dedicated workshop: How to super charge your tutorial, enrichment and personal development in the new world of Ofsted inclusion.

The session explores how blended learning content can be used both inside and outside the classroom to strengthen tutorial delivery and personal development provision. A key focus will be on how colleges can align tutorial programmes with the latest Ofsted expectations around curriculum intent, ensuring there is a clear curriculum vision and strong evidence that learners are developing the broad knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.

The Skills Network is proud to support events like this and to continue working alongside colleges as they strengthen tutorial, enrichment and personal development provision in line with the evolving Ofsted landscape.
