The Skills Network has announced a new partnership with HSBC to deliver a fully funded, five-week remote Software Development course aimed at supporting graduates seeking to start careers in technology and digital banking.
The initiative will focus on promoting diversity in tech, with a particular emphasis on encouraging women in STEM to apply. HSBC will fully sponsor 10 learners for the upcoming November intake, providing them with the technical skills and industry insight required to access competitive technology roles within digital banking.
Delivered online, by The Skills Network, the course requires a commitment of 10 hours per week (evenings) over five weeks. Learners will receive live tutor support to prepare for HSBC’s Codility technical assessment, which forms a part of the Bank’s graduate recruitment process. Participants who complete the course, and the Codility assessment, will be guaranteed an interview with HSBC, offering a direct pathway to the HSBC Engineering Graduate Programme, commencing in March 2026 at the Bank’s UK Tech HQ in Sheffield.
“This partnership represents a fantastic opportunity for graduates to gain the hands-on skills and confidence needed to launch a successful career in banking tech,” said Michael Burton, Head of Employer Engagement, The Skills Network. “We’re proud to work alongside HSBC to open up more accessible routes into the tech sector, particularly for women and underrepresented groups.”
“At HSBC, we are committed to developing the next generation of technology talent,” added Ricky Heatley, Emerging Talent Attraction and Selection Advisor, HSBC. “This collaboration allows us to support aspiring technologists early in their careers, while fostering greater diversity and innovation across our digital banking teams.”
Applications for the November 2025 intake are now open. Interested candidates living within an hour of Sheffield can learn more and apply here.
