EQUAL Assess is built on best practice assessment methodology and designed to align with Awarding Organisation and Ofqual expectations. The Assessor remains fully in control throughout the process, ensuring that professional judgement is never replaced, only enhanced.

Compliance is often the biggest concern when introducing new AI technology into assessment. EQUAL Assess has been specifically designed to address this.

The process begins with a human Assessor marking learner responses, just as they would traditionally. As they assess, they record marks and micro-notes, which form structured inputs for the AI.

Only once marking is complete is the AI engine triggered, ensuring:

• Assessor-led decision making at every stage

All data submitted to the AI model is anonymised, supporting GDPR compliance and safeguarding learner information.

Since its launch in August 2025, EQUAL Assess has supported the marking of over 80,000 learner submissions at The Skills Network.

Once triggered, EQUAL Assess generates a draft feedback response that mirrors the approach of an experienced Assessor.
