Section 1: Understanding the principles of safeguarding adults
In this section, your employees will cover the main types of abuse and harm an individual is potentially at risk of experiencing, as well as the importance of being treated with dignity and respect when coming forward with details of a case of abuse.
Section 2: Reducing the likelihood of abuse
In this section, your employees will cover expected levels of dignity and rights within a care environment, alongside examining the importance of individualised care, the various safeguarding policies in place and managing potential risks.
Section 3: Responding to suspected or disclosed abuse
Your employees will explore the course of action to take if abuse of an adult is suspected, as well as local whistleblowing policy procedures.
Section 4: Protecting people from harm and abuse – locally and nationally
Your employees will cover possible barriers to alerting or referring relevant agencies to an alleged abuse, as well as legislation currently in place which relates to the sharing of information.
Section 5: Safeguarding children
In this section, your employees will explore what procedures to follow, based on profession, if there are suspicions that a child or young person is experiencing abuse.
