Level 1 Certificate in Personal and Social Development

There are many benefits to completing personal development courses. UK and international learners will gain the skills and knowledge needed to develop personal and social skills they will use in all areas of their life. This course contains eight units, in which your learners will learn how to reflect on their personal development, deal with problems in daily life, consider their individual rights and responsibilities, work towards goals and make the most leisure time, manage social relationships and prepare for work and working as part of a group.

Upon completion of one of our personal development courses, UK and international learners could progress on to study our Level 2 Certificate in Job Search and Employability Skills.

Unit 1: Developing self

In this unit your learners will reflect on their own personal development. They will identify their own strengths and recognise how their personal skills and behaviours could be improved.

Unit 2: Dealing with problems in daily life

Within this unit your learners will look at how to identify and solve problems, and what skills they need to tackle problems in their daily lives.

Unit 3: Individual rights and responsibilities

This unit provides your learners with an understanding of the rights and responsibilities they have as an individual, the potential barriers to accessing their individual rights and the sources of help available.

Unit 4: Working towards goals

In this unit your learners will look at personal goal setting, considering personal development plans and working towards and achieving those goals appropriately.

Unit 5: Making the most of leisure time

This unit will encourage your learners to think about how they use their leisure time and express their preference of leisure activities so that they can use their leisure time effectively.

Unit 6: Managing social relationships

This unit looks at social relationships, social behaviour and social communication to encourage your learners to use appropriate behaviours when interacting with others.

Unit 7: Working as part of a group

This unit will help your learners to develop the skills to contribute effectively when working with others on a group activity, by looking at ground rules, feedback and reviewing group progress.
