Eliot Grant
Chairman

Owner and Chairman Eliot Grant has over 15 years' experience working in the education sector. Finding his way into education through sport, Eliot held senior management positions within sporting organisations, firstly with Leeds United, as Licensing and E-Marketing Manager, then with SkySports.com as Commercial Manager.

Through his relationships within the sector, he acquired a diverse knowledge and expertise in project leadership and account management which in 2002 led him into education, heading up several high-profile ventures and e-commerce initiatives across the UK.

Eliot has also worked in Hong Kong as a senior account manager at a global promotional merchandising company, handling key accounts including Coca-Cola, Walt Disney and Allied Domecq.

Mick Cox
Chief Executive

Founder and Chief Executive Mick Cox has brought together a team of experienced individuals to share his vision of delivering excellence through high-quality programme delivery, flexibility in approach and timely responsiveness to change.

Mick has vast experience at a senior level in a number of Further Education colleges. In this environment, he quickly established himself as an entrepreneur and a leader of innovation and commercial enterprise. His success in the FE sector enabled a move into the private sector where he managed and developed several high profile initiatives and capital developments.

Mick’s understanding of business and his commercial expertise combined with his knowledge of curriculum design and quality improvement gives him a unique combination of skills and experience.

James Earl
Commercial Director

James is responsible for overseeing commercial and business development activity at The Skills Network, with over 13 years' experience in marketing and business development.

Working with education establishments and corporate organisations, James has helped businesses to identify both efficiency and innovative learning and development strategies by using The Skills Network’s products and services.

James has been involved with sales, student recruitment, marketing and media during his time at Newcastle College, part of NCG and one of the largest colleges in Europe. Working at one of the world’s largest architectural firms and the UK’s largest sub-contracted construction firm, James has been involved in several high-profile global projects.

Rachel Kay
Partnerships Director

Rachel joined The Skills Network in March 2012 after a long and successful career in the Financial Services industry, which included roles in training and development, people and project management, sales and service, risk assessment and quality assurance.

Rachel currently works in the Contract Management Unit of the business and looks after all our sub-contracting partners. Our relationship with our partners is of the utmost importance and as a company we work across the UK supporting the delivery of their strategic aims, maintaining high achievement rates and delivering first class learning experiences. Rachel’s contract management ensures the service we provide is of the highest standard, contracts are delivered in a timely and effective manner, there is continued support, new relationships are developed and that our longstanding partners are retained.

Education, learning and helping people develop and improve their skills and qualifications is a passion of Rachel’s and her current role ensures she can reach a large and receptive target audience who share the same goals.

Daniel Wilson
Curriculum Director

Daniel began his career 20 years ago working for an FE College where he worked for five years in a student support role. Daniel then progressed into the financial sector, where he worked for 13 years in various roles including Branch Manager and as a Financial Advisor, specialising in wealth management.

Daniel joined The Skills Network in 2012 where his knowledge of sales, the financial sector and his skills in relationship management were put to great use and he successfully grew our employer-led and consumer sales divisions.

Daniel has now moved over to the Contract Management Unit of our business, where he is heavily involved in funding, learner support and quality, with huge aspirations to make further improvements.

Claire Conlaund
Finance and Operations Director

Claire has over 10 years working in managerial finance roles throughout the private and charity sectors both in the UK and overseas. She has experience of managing finance teams in both high growth and cash-constrained environments.

Claire has a proven track record in driving business efficiencies working closely with business development and operational teams. Particular focus has been on conducting financial training, procedure implementation, project financial management and internal audit.
